Reverend Dr. Bill Nye


Minister Emeritus

The son, grandson and greatgrandson of Methodist and Congregational ministers, Bill Nye was ordained in the United Church of Christ after graduating from Yale University and Union Theological Seminary.

He served three parishes in Brooklyn for a total of 38 years, the last 20 as minister of All Souls Universalist church and then co-pastor of All Souls Bethlehem. He has been Moderator of the Metropolitan Association of the New York Conference of the United Church of Christ, and president of its board and of the boards of Brooklyn Community Housing and Services and the Vinmont Foundation.

He has his Ph.D. from the Derner Institute of Adelphi University, is a licensed psychologist, and retired in 2006 after 23 years as Director of the Blanton-Peale Community Counseling Centers. He is currently senior psychologist at BPCCC and in private practice, and is active in the United Church of Christ Coalition for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Concerns (The Coalition) and the Committee on Ordination and Standing of the Metropolitan Association.

His two sons and their families live in Massachusetts and summer with him at their family camp in Wayne, Maine.
